Overview of the Qualification
The Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety is a national industry qualification which reflects the role of individuals who use well-developed skills and a broad knowledge base in a wide variety of contexts. This qualification would suit an OHS officer in a full-time dedicated role who works under the supervision of an OHS Coordinator or OHS Manager. Job roles and titles vary across different industry sectors. Possible job titles relevant to this qualification include:
- Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator
- Occupational Health and Safety Officer.
Prerequisite requirements
- There are no prerequisite requirements for individual units of competency.

Workplace Health & Safety Representatives Course QLD
Course Objective:
- Future Skills is offering training for workplace health and safety representatives elected under the Queensland Workplace Health and Safety Act.
- Elected Workplace Health and Safety representatives are entitled to attend this training and your employer is required to pay for all reasonable costs associated with the course. This training will equip the Workplace Health and Safety Representative with the skills to perform the role effectively.
What it covers:
- Your rights and responsibilities as an elected health & safety representative
- The legislative framework for workplace health and safety in Qld now and in the future
- Hazards, risks, risk assessment and the hierarchy of controls
- Issue resolution & representing members of the work group
- Incident investigation, report writing and the issuing of provisional improvement notices
Target Audience:
- The key clients for this program are Elected Workplace Health and Safety representatives, or members of Workplace Health and Safety Committees
Course Duration:
3 days face to face training and assessment through a combination of;
- Classroom delivery and assessment
- Hands on practical exercises in solving problems and negotiating outcomes around workplace health and safety
- Practical experience in the process of applying enforcement provisions of the WHS act
